Greenpeace - Stop Climate Change

Global Warming is a Catastrophe Coming! We already know the causes - humankind's relentless burning of fossil fuels like coal, oil and gas. We already know some of the impacts - the melting of polar ice caps, rising oceans, severe droughts, the spread of diseases, massive flooding, coral bleaching and surging storms. We already know who will be hit hardest - coastal countries, island nations, and underdeveloped regions like Southeast Asia.

For years we have been releasing more and more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere by burning fossil fuels like, coal, gas and oil. This has greatly increased world's natural blanket, leading to rising global temperatures, and deadly and unpredictable changing climates. Greenpeace believes that only a systematic and drastic reduction of greenhouse gas emissions can prevent climate change from wreaking more damage to the earth's ecosystems and its peoples.
As an international, global organization, Greenpeace focuses its attention on influencing both the public and policymakers of the dangers behind the unrestricted mining and use of fossil fuels. As a regional organization, Greenpeace Southeast Asia focuses on bearing witness to the impacts of global warming, and increasing public awareness of the problems it poses. Greenpeace SEA also seeks to effect changes in the direction of the region's energy policies for the future - moving from fossil fuel dependency towards embracing renewable, clean and sustainable sources of energy.

Asia Clean Energy Now
The Climate and Energy Campaign's tactic is to confront the challenges posed by the fossil fuel industry - in particular, coal-fired power plants and nuclear-based energy - while, at the same time, articulating and pushing for solutions to fossil fuel dependency. For instance, Greenpeace SEA promotes policies and projects that favor energy generated by wind and solar power, and advocates for energy efficient alternatives.
